The attractive town of Santiago de la Ribera is the name given to the coastal area attached to San Javier and it lies within the Murcia region, on the shores of the Mar Menor.

Santiago de la Ribera has a very lovely promenade flanked by attractive palm trees and with Summer beach bars, cafes and restaurants along its route. Today La Ribera continues to be popular with the Spanish for their vacations but also attracts visitors from all over Europe. It has a modern air, without being over developed and still retains a lot of its original character and charm.

The 4 kms of fine sandy beaches with calm, shallow waters, are ideal for all kinds of water sports and activities as well as for taking time to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Cycling is very popular with the flat terrain and cycle tracks make it safe for all. From the Marina you can take a boat trip around the calm waters of the mar Menor or take a ferry across to La Manga Strip on the opposite side of the bay.

A little further is the popular retail and leisure development of La Zenia Boulevard (20 minutes by car). The city and port of Cartagena and Murcia City, are a 30 minute drive on uncongested motorways. The town of Balsicas is 14 kms away and has a train station which connects to Murcia and from there to all major cities in Spain. Corvera airport is 25 minutes and Alicante airport 50 minutes. .
